      Resources for New Game Devs
      Resources
The world of indie game dev is vast and overwhelming at times. Here are a few helpful resources for those getting started. Planning Tools Looking for ways to help design and plan your next project? It can be difficult finding the right tools for you, but here's some for you to try! HacknPlan (personal favourite) Trello Monday Unity Unity is a great game engine for beginners, providing options for both programmers (C#) and designers alike. Although Unity's visual scripting capabilities aren't quite on the level on Unreal Engine's blueprint, it's really quite amazing what you can achieve with little-to-no code required! In my experience, people find the layout and design of the Unity editor simpler and easier to understand than that of Unreal Engine, however, I encourage you to try all the game engines you can find and see what works best for you and more importantly, for your game . With that out of the way, here's a list of some resources to help out new Unity learners! Are you more of a visual learner? There are plenty of online courses and videos that'll teach you everything you need to get going. Here's some places to get your started: Brackeys Code Monkey Blackthornprod Jonas Tyroller DapperDino There are plenty of great, knowledge-rich online courses out there too, if you are willing to put a bit of money into it. Here are some great sites to check out: Udemy GameDev.tv Skillshare LinkedIn Learning Always remember, you definitely do not need to invest in online courses to learn what you need to know to get started. It can be a very enriching investment that can often help you learn more quickly, but there's always a way to learn for free! Don't want to code? Check out Unity's official visual scripting tool Bolt . It's also worth mentioning, Unity has their own official learning hub to help get beginners off their feet! Check it out here . Unreal Engine Check back here in the future and we'll update this post with more information. Godot Check back here in the future and we'll update this post with more information.
